Welcome Giancarlo Pawelec, National President
Giancarlo Pawelec at Studio 311, Toronto.
CAPIC is pleased to welcome Giancarlo Pawelec as its new National President.
A Toronto-based commercial and corporate photographer and creative director, Giancarlo owns and operates Studio 311, a production space in Toronto. He brings more than two decades of experience working with brands, agencies, and businesses across Canada, with work spanning fashion, portraiture, automotive, events, branded content, and motion, shaped by thoughtful collaboration and respect for the people behind every project.
Giancarlo is also a brand ambassador for Broncolor, Tether Tools, and ThinkTankPhoto, and regularly leads workshops and seminars sharing his knowledge of studio lighting and commercial technique with other photographers. Earlier in his career, he founded and led AutoMotoFoto Media Inc., growing it into one of Canada’s leading online automotive authorities, before going on to found HeadshotsTO, a Toronto-based headshot studio.
As CAPIC enters its next chapter, Giancarlo will work alongside our National Board, chapters, volunteers, members, industry partners, and General Manager, Kseniya Gorbanova, to strengthen CAPIC’s community and national voice.
"I'm truly honoured to take on the role of President of CAPIC National," says Pawelec. "Photography has given me a career, lifelong friendships, and opportunities I never expected. I'm grateful for the trust placed in me and excited to work with our members and partners to grow our community, support our profession, and meet the opportunities and challenges ahead."
His work has appeared in commercial and editorial contexts in Canada and internationally.
Beyond its role as a space for ambitious commercial productions, Studio 311 is a place where creative people come together to make work, exchange ideas, and support one another. The studio also has one resident model: Bowie, Giancarlo’s dog, who has grown up on set and works strictly for treats!
Bowie, Studio 311’s most willing model.
Congratulations, Giancarlo, and welcome to the role. Here’s to what’s next for CAPIC.
