General memberships are for working professional photographers, illustrators, and digital artists of good moral character. A review of the applicant’s website or online portfolio and proof of publication is required.
General Members receive all of the benefits available to CAPIC members, are eligible to vote, and may hold office in the association. They have complete access to member-only online resources and content.
Membership Dues
$249/year or $20.75/month*

The Associate membership is for artist’s representatives, assistants, stylists, consultants, manufacturers, stock agencies, labs, digital service providers, suppliers, and any other support industry members. This membership level is open to any individual working professionally in a field that is associated with photography or illustration. Applicants must include a resume/CV or website or portfolio.
Associate Members have complete access to member-only online resources and content. Associate Members are eligible to vote and may hold office in the association.

The Emerging Talent membership is for photographers and illustrators who are actively growing their careers and passionate about taking the next step in the creative industry, without meeting all the criteria for General Membership yet. It’s perfect for those building their portfolios, transitioning into professional work, or working on gaining experience with publications. This membership offers access to member-only online resources, industry insights, and the support of CAPIC’s national network. While Emerging Talent Members do not have voting rights or hold office, they’re encouraged to engage, learn, and grow within the association as they move toward full professional status. Applicants must include a website, portfolio, or other proof of serious commitment to pursuing a professional path in photography or illustration.
Membership Dues
$99/year or $9/month*

The Student membership is open to all students currently enrolled in a post-secondary photography, illustration, or related visual arts or applied arts program. This membership level is ideal for any student who wants to network with the professional CAPIC community. Student members are eligible for limited CAPIC member discounts, and have complete access to member-only online resources and content. Applicants for this membership must submit an image of their current student ID. Student Members may not vote or hold office.
Annual Membership Dues
$39/year*

The Instructor level membership is eligible to all full-time professors and instructors currently teaching photography, illustration, or related fields at a post-secondary institution in Canada. Applicants are required to provide proof of their position, including supporting documents that confirm that they meet the required full-time hours (24 hours per week minimum).
Members in this category may not vote or hold office. They have complete access to member-only online resources and content. Instructor Members are not eligible to receive the majority of discounts.
These members are individuals who have been granted Honorary membership in CAPIC in recognition of outstanding careers. Honorary Members receive most of the benefits available to CAPIC members, are eligible to vote, and may hold office in the association. Honorary Members have complete access to member-only online resources and content.
Honorary membership is by award only and cannot be applied for. There are no annual dues for this category.
Retired membership is designated for CAPIC members who are no longer working professionally, but wish to remain active in the community. Applicant must have been a CAPIC member for a minimum of 5 years. Retired Members may not vote or hold office. Retired Members have limited amount of membership benefits, but have complete access to member-only online resources and content.

Foreign Membership is eligible to any photographers, illustrators, and image creators outside of Canada. Applicants must provide proof that they are working professionally in the field. Proof of membership to an associated professional association should be provided if applicable.
Foreign Members may not vote or hold office. Foreign Members do not receive a profile on the CAPIC website, but have access to members-only online content.
