Michael Bednar is an award-winning photographer whose work has been recognized and published worldwide. His roots have always been in the outdoors, having studied and worked in forestry, fisheries and wildlife prior to turning to professional photography. This has created within him a deep understanding and appreciation for the environment. Michael also spent time as a tour guide, discovering that welcoming people into the wild, not keeping them out, is what is going to create a similar passion in others for nature.

His talents have been reflected in the awards he's won, including Best Photojournalism of the Decade by Asian Geographic, the Lucie Award for International People Photographer of the Year and the Northern Lights Award for Best Canadian Travel Photography. His work combines his love of travel, his appetite for adventure, hunger for learning about the environment and his passion for connecting with people of diverse cultures and places.

After travelling the world over, Michael chose the Cariboo region in central British Columbia as his home. This area of the province has a special draw to Michael, with its unique brand of wild, its rich history and the down-to-earth, grounded people who live here.
